Bao Sanniang

Bao Sanniang is the first playable character in the Dynasty Warriors series to not draw inspiration from Romance of the Three Kingdoms or historical records. She is the third daughter of the Bao family and is known as one of Guan Suo's wives within fiction.
Zhao Yun

Zhao Yun is a Shu general and one of the Five Tiger Generals. Playable since the original Dynasty Warriors, Zhao Yun is a prominent Shu character, appearing on the Shu side of every battle in earlier games and in most battles in later ones.
Ma Chao

Ma Chao has served as an unaffiliated force for quite some time, and has called himself the "Spear of Justice" in many installments. Since he cuts a fine figure and wears excellent armor, he is sometimes called, "Ma Chao the Splendid". First allying with Pang De in the defense of Xi Liang, he made a name for being one of the Eight Riders.
Xing Cai

Xing Cai (星彩) is an original character who debuted in Dynasty Warriors 5. She is a fictional interpretation of Liu Shan's wife who was Zhang Fei's younger daughter. Together with her childhood friend, Guan Ping, she is portrayed as the future of Shu. She is one of the newcomers to be cut in the following title but returns inDynasty Warriors 7.
Jiang Wei

Jiang Wei is a character who continued to appear in the series since his debut in Dynasty Warriors 2. He is also one of the characters cut from Dynasty Warriors 6, but he returns in Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid 2. Formerly a Wei soldier, he was tricked to joining Shu in order to become Zhuge Liang's successor. He eventually becomes one of the shining hopes for Shu's future.
Ma Dai

Ma Dai is Ma Chao's cousin who is best known for slaying Wei Yan. Romance of the Three Kingdoms instead portrays him as a faithful retainer who previously served Ma Teng and is Ma Chao's constant companion. His proclamation the moment before he kills Wei Yan is often quoted in Three Kingdoms media.
Huang Zhong

Huang Zhong has been a playable character since Dynasty Warriors 2. He serves Liu Bei and is known as the master of the bow. He is counted as one of the Five Tiger Generals and isXiahou Yuan's rival. He wants to show that age is never a limit to one's talents. The item, Huang's Bow, is named after him.
Yue Ying

Yue Ying (月英) is one of the romanticized names for Zhuge Liang's wife. Not much is known about her historically, but folklore often describes her to be as intelligent and well studied as her husband. There are many stories of her being an ugly woman for her time.
Zhuge Liang

Zhuge Liang is a character who has been in every Dynasty Warriors title to date. Known as a wise strategist with "unsurpassed intelligence", he agreed to serve Shu after Liu Beivisits him in person three times. Also known as "The Sleeping Dragon", he is Yue Ying's husband, Jiang Wei's mentor, and Pang Tong's companion.
Liu Shan

Liu Shan is Liu Bei's eldest son and successor. Even when named figurehead leader of Shu, Liu Shan isn't known to have done much to help his country prosper. He is infamously known under his childhood name in Romance of the Three Kingdoms, A Dou (阿斗), which is also an idiom for an incompetent person.
Liu Bei

Liu Bei first appeared in the Dynasty Warriors series in Dynasty Warriors 2. He is emperor and founder of the Shu kingdom and, during the majority of battles featured in his Musou Mode, he fights alongside his sworn brothers, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Historically, he is Sun Shangxiang's husband but this is rarely mentioned during the games' story. His heir is Liu Shan. His arch-nemesis and primary opponent is generally Cao Cao, as the latter believes the former to be a potentially great leader and his most obvious threat.
Guan Ping

Guan Ping is one of Guan Yu's biological sons and is thought to be Guan Xing's elder brother. He is given a minor mention in historical texts, but Romance of the Three Kingdoms identifies him as Guan Yu's adopted son who helped Liu Bei's conquests throughout Hanzhong. He is also Guan Suo's older brother in various fictional media.
Guan Suo

Guan Suo is Guan Yu's fictional third son and Guan Ping's younger brother. He is a famous subject for Beijing opera and is known to have wed four exotic wives. Three Kingdoms fiction may use Guan Suo as their archetype hero for Shu in an attempt to expand the romanticized lionhearted perception of Guan Yu or the empire.
Guan Yu

Guan Yu is a character who has been playable since the firstDynasty Warriors. One of the Five Tiger Generals of Shu, he's also an oath brother to Zhang Fei and Liu Bei. Since they share the same family name, he also adopted Guan Ping. Guan Yu is said to have a beautiful long beard and a long blade, earning him the nickname "Beautiful Beard". To this day, Guan Yu is worshiped by many Asians as Guan Di, the God of War, Justice and Righteousness.
Zhang Fei

Zhang Fei is a character who has been playable in every Dynasty Warriors title to date. He is Liu Bei and Guan Yu's youngest oath brother. He has a daughter called Xingcai. He is one of the Five Tiger Generals of Shu who is said to wield the strength of 10,000 men on the battlefield. Though devoted to his brothers, he has bad drinking habits and a nasty temper when he's drunk.
Wei Yan

Wei Yan became a playable Shu character in Dynasty Warriors 3. Dramatically different than his novel counterpart, Wei Yan is a man that often isn't trusted by Zhuge Liang. He is fond of Liu Beiand is as courageous as the Five Tiger Generals.
Pang Tong

Pang Tong is a short lived strategist for Liu Bei. He is sometimes addressed as "The Fledgling Phoenix", the clashing opposite of the "Sleeping Dragon". Although he is a talented strategist, his odd appearance and snide personality were said to repulse the lords in the Three Kingdoms era.
